  1. Completed

Lake Drive seawall with removable panels

    Cost not published

A new seawall along North and South Lake Drive with 20 openings that are closed with panels before king tides.

OutcomeWith all panels in, Intracoastal water stayed off the street during the September 2026 king tide. Water can still bubble up through storm drains; one-way valves are being added.

  2. Planned

    Stormwater Master Plan

    About $1B

A 20 to 30 year plan with 81 projects: pump stations, injection wells, backflow valves, higher seawalls, and raised roads.

OutcomeAdopted June 2025. Small fixes under $4M come first from current fees; $25M to $40M projects wait for bonds and grants.

  3. In progress

A1A drainage, pump stations, and seawall

    $34.3M

FDOT project on A1A by Hollywood Beach: four stormwater pump stations near Azalea Terrace, Van Buren, Sherman, and Franklin Streets, plus a seawall.

OutcomeUnder construction since June 2025, due summer 2028. Meant to stop A1A from flooding at high tide.

  4. In progress

    Tidal flooding barriers and seawalls

    $28M

Raised seawalls and tidal flood barriers on public land, paid for with state grants and the city's 2019 voter-approved bond.

OutcomeIncludes the Lake Drive panels. In 2025 the city asked the state for $10.2M more for this work.

  5. Planned

    Swale restoration pilot

    $695K

Pilot and feasibility study for restoring grassy swales citywide so rain soaks in instead of pooling on streets.

OutcomeHalf funded by a Resilient Florida grant.
